York Coronary Support Group
Patrons: The Rt Hon Lord Feversham & Professor RM Boyle CBE
President:Dr M Pye FRCP
York Coronary Support Group Trust, a registered charity (number 1011149), was formed in 1988 to provide what is considered to be vital help and support needed by cardiac patients and their families following the patient's illness and release from hospital. We hope to enable them to return to as normal a life as possible.
The Group forms an essential part of the rehabilitation programme which commences in the Coronary Care Unit of York District Hospital.
If you want to meet other people with ‘heart concerns’ and their families, please come and join York Coronary Support Group, share experiences, glean advice, participate in social events, make new friends and have fun.
If you would like to see a video showing all the Group’s activities then phone Tony Tolhurst on 01904-410091

Our monthly meetings provide a focal point for members to meet up and chat over refreshments. How the Group works is explained to new members over a cup of coffee and they are introduced to existing members. Partners and friends are always welcome.

(Except BANK HOLIDAYS WHEN IT IS ON THE SECOND MONDAY)

In order to keep members in regular touch, a quarterly Newsletter is circulated. This is in the form of an A5-size journal of around 28 pages covering all manner of items of interest to members.
The Group has a walking section that walks on alternate Sundays throughout the year. The walks are approximately 5 miles over the moors, in the Vale Of York and the eastern fringes of the Dales. Each walk is lead by an experienced walker. Mobile phones are carried in case of emergency.
We meet at 9.30 in the morning and travel as a group to the start of the walk. A halt is generally made at lunchtime for a picnic.
Family and friends are welcome to join any of the walks.
